Boyfriend sentenced to 15 years after killing his girlfriend

MURFREESBORO,TENNRutherford County resident Jared Partin, 36, pleaded guilty Thursday after shooting his girlfriend Carly Hassett, 29, back in 2017.


Circuit Court Judge David Bragg sentenced Partin to prison after being convicted of second-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.



The murder was confirmed by Detective Sgt. Steve Craig who investigated the case. The victim was killed at their home in Bell Buckle during an argument.


Craig explained how Partin shot her first then moved her body to a vehicle and crashed into a neighbor’s fence.

Partin remained in custody after trying to flee the scene.




Craig confirmed that the couple had drug use and domestic issues in their home.


Partin will serve 100 percent of the sentence as part of the plea agreement.
