A Murfreesboro homeowner in Hopewell Court discovered a hand grenade in his yard after running it over with his lawn mower.
Murfreesboro Police Department officers and Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, along with personnel from Rutherford County Medical Services.
After the area was secured, Tennessee Highway Patrol's Bomb Squad arrived and determined the grenade was a military training grenade.
They declared the grenade to be inert and removed it from the premises to be disposed of.
