MTSU Approves to Unite Departments

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the board of Trustees at Middle Tennessee State University gave their approval for the consolidation of two academic departments within the College of Liberal Arts, forming a unified organization.

The Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Athletics Committee, proposed to unite the Department of Global Studies, and Human Geography with the Department of Political Science and International Relations.

Provost Mark Bynes, the university’s academic officer, stated that the forthcoming Department of Political and Global Affairs will increase effectiveness.

The Trustees gave their approval for the hire of Leah Ladley as the new Chief Audit Executive for the university.

Ladley, who has held the position of Chief Auditor at the University of Oregon since 2020, was also the Chief Audit Officer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
