MTSU President Sydney McPhee released a statement on Friday discussing the implementation of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The act includes the Education Stabilization Fund, which includes funds for MTSU to assist eligible students affected by COVID-19.
“The funds are intended to be used in meeting student’s expenses related to food, housing, course materials and technology caused by the transition from on-ground to online course instruction, health care and child care,” said McPhee.
The university is currently awaiting guidance to know what students will be eligible to receive funds. McPhee said that eligible students would be notified and funds would be added to their MTSU account.
“There will be no action required by our students,” he noted.
