Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association Announces Award Winners

The TRPA announced the winners of the association's 2019 awards for outstanding achievements of individuals, communities and organizations at their 68th annual conference in Chattanooga on Wednesday.

"It is an honor to have such a large number of our staff recognized by recreation professionals from across the state and by the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association.", said Director Nate Williams.

A few of the awards announced were:

  • The Public Relations Four Star Award, which recognizes excellence and community impact by departments. Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation was awarded for the "Bring Your Own Water Bottle" initiative.

  • The Dennis Rainer Award, which recognizes an individual who demonstrates excellence in athletic planning and programming. This award was awarded to Brittany Garrett of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation.

The TRPA is the biggest nonprofit organization for parks and recreation in Tennessee with over 1,700 members.
