The Blackman Blaze won a hard fought battle against the Siegel Stars in the championship game of the District 7-AAA tournament with a final score of 59-53 on Tuesday night.

After being down 27-25 at halftime, Blaze forward Jalen Page made a momentum shifting dunk in in the third quarter to help the Blaze go on a 10-0 run to retake the lead. Page also sunk two free throws in the final seconds of the game to seal the win for Blackman.

“I felt the momentum shift in the locker room, and we told ourselves we were gonna come out and show everybody what we could do,” said Page.

Blackman head coach Barry Wortman said that he was very proud of his team and that they will enjoy their win tonight, but tomorrow their focus will shift to their next opponent, which is Coffee County.

Ray Tyler, who was named tournament MVP, led the Blaze with 17 points. Mathew Schneider led Siegel with 15 points.

“I was proud of our effort, we competed," said Siegel head coach Dyron Birdwell. "I wish would have executed better but they’re a really good team and credit to them.”
