The MTSU Basketball team fell to the Wofford Terriers in a close game Saturday that went to overtime, 74-64.
Although there was a big separation in the scoring at the end, the game was close through all of regulation with each team leading at the end of each half. Wofford went on a 12-2 run in overtime to close the game out with a win.
Key players Dillon Bailey, Kyler Filewich, and Corey Tripp for Wofford combined for 50 points, 22 rebounds, and 13 assists. Kyler Filewich and Corey Tripp the most well rounded players of the night with MTSU Coach Nick McDevitt praising them saying, “The big fellow, Filewich, he’s a load. He doesn’t get sped up, he plays with angles. He’s a good ball player.” Continuing, “And Tripp, you just kind of feel on edge a lot when he’s got the ball. Can score at many levels, had seven assists and no turnovers tonight.”
Junior Guard for MTSU, Jestin Porter had a solid outing in the scoring for MTSU finishing with 15 points and 6-15 from the field. Porter is becoming more of a key player for the Blue Raiders in his second season in Murfreesboro. When asked on if he has been doing anything differently this season compared to previous seasons he said, “I’ve just been staying in the gym more often. Just steady, getting in the gym just working hard everyday. That’s really what it is.”
MTSU is now 4-5 on the season. They will be hosting Missouri State tomorrow at the Murphy Center at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
