Four Murfreesboro Football Teams Named in Top 25 Poll

Updated: Sep 13, 2019

Four Murfreesboro teams landed in the top 25 for Middle TN High Schools. The rankings for the Murfreesboro teams were Oakland #1, Riverdale #6, Blackman #12, and Stewarts Creek #14

Oakland as the top ranked team comes as no surprise after demolishing their opponents to the tune of 59-0, 86-14, and 69-16. This team is loaded and looks to make a deep playoff run. They have two of the top ten rated players in the state in Joseph Anderson a DE committed to playing at South Carolina, and Woodi Washington, a CB committed to playing at Oklahoma. They have a big regular season game on October 18th against the highly rated Riverdale Warriors.

Riverdale landed at #6 after starting off the season undefeated. This is a team without top 100 recruits in Tennessee yet they have begun the season 3-0 by beating up on a few teams. They can truly prove themselves with two big games against Blackman and Oakland.

Blackman is ranked #12, but things have gotten off to a rocky start after losing their first two games at home. They lost against one of the better teams in Tennessee in Alcoa 23-14, and then lost to #2 ranked Ravenwood 16-13. The team bounced back strong last week against Coffee County Central and won 65-0. They have faced some tough teams early and they hope that can make them a stronger team going down the stretch towards the playoffs.

The last top 25 ranked Murfreesboro team is ranked #14, Stewarts Creek.  Stewarts Creek is 3-0 after taking down Mt. Juliet and Clarksville, and obliterating Antioch 69-6. This may come as a shock, as they have now matched their win total of 2018. After going 3-7 last year, this team has started 3-0 and has some exciting tough games coming down the stretch. They are ranked lower than Blackman despite winning two more games due to the strength of schedule and history of Stewart’s Creek program.
