How the Recent Government Shutdown is Still Affecting Middle Tennessee Residents

Written by: Jamyra Carvin, MTN Reporter

Due to the recent government shut down, Tennessee had a lot of unanswered questions about the SNAP benefits program. Especially right here in our own backyard in Rutherford county. Reporter Jamyra Carvin had a chance to speak with a local Middle Tennessee State University student, Aleyah Chrystak, who was affected during the shutdown, along with Sky Arnold, the Department of Human Services.

Mr. Arnold gave further details on the SNAP benefits program, and how they will help residents during this time. As of now everyone has received their February SNAPS early and will need to budget until March. To find out further information feel free to visit www.fns.usda.gov for more information on the SNAP benefits.
