Lady Pioneers Hope to End Losing Streak

By Bethany Porter

MTN Sports Reporter

The Warren County girls basketball team will try to end a 10-game losing streak tonight against Stone Memorial. The Lady Pioneers are just 2-21 overall, 0-5 in district play, with four games left in the regular season.

Senior Beth Vaughn said they are working hard at practice to improve their game outcomes.

“We are working on cutting down turnovers and [working on] offensive execution, said Vaughn.”

It will be a tough task against Stone Memorial, a team with a 21-2 record overall, and a 5-0 record in the district.

Vaughn and the Lady Pioneers are hoping their film sessions will help them prepare.

"We work on our offense sets against the type of defense the other team runs,” said Vaughn.

Vaughn believes that in order to win against Stone Memorial they “need to execute offensively and follow the scout.”

Stone Memorial won the last meeting between the schools 66-43. The game starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Warren County.
