“I think supporting the school is really important. It’s always good to have your own people, your own, you know people you’ve been surrounded by....It’s always good to be around your own people.” -Beyonce Robinson
The MTSU Lady Raiders Basketball team played the Rice Owls Thursday night. Both teams came into this game undefeated in Conference USA play.
Rice would take a Five- Nothing lead in the early stages of the game, and never looked back. MTSU would find themselves in a 20-10 deficit at the end of the first quarter, but would cut the lead down to five at the half.
The Lady Owls would out rebound the Raiders on both the offense and defensive glass. It was this effort on the boards that would make it difficult for MTSU to catch back up.
The Senior Forward from Murfreesboro, Alex Johnson, would lead MTSU in scoring with 17 points, and grabbed 4 rebounds to go with it.
A'Queen Hayes was named player of the game for MTSU with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist on the night.
Rice took the win in this one 60-47 to hand the Lady Raiders their first loss in conference play. MTSU looks to put this loss behind them, and get ready for their matchup against North Texas this Saturday.
