The Arbor Day Foundation named Middle Tennessee Electric a 2020 Tree Line USA utility. The Tree Line USA program recognizes utility companies that provide quality electricity while protecting and promoting the health of local trees.

Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation, spoke of the importance of trees in American neighborhoods. “They provide important benefits to residents, including clean air, clean water and a tolerable climate,” he said. “Service providers like Middle Tennessee Electric demonstrate that it’s possible for trees and utilities to co-exist for the benefit of communities and citizens.”

Tree Line USA utilities must meet five requirements for the program: following industry standards for quality tree care, training workers annually, sponsoring a tree planting and public education program, maintaining a tree-based energy conservation program, and involvement in an Arbor Day celebration.

Middle Tennessee Electric has met the standards of a Tree Line USA utility since 2017.
