The sensational senior Josh Jefferson led the way to a Blue Raider victory over Bethune-Cookman Friday night.

Jefferson got his scoring started early in the game and led the team with eleven points while grabbing four rebounds, dishing out an assist, and adding another steal.

Scoring has never been a problem for the graduate transfer, but Jefferson has stepped up his defense this season. His tenacity on the defensive side has already led to five steals on the season and his leadership on the court is noticeable.

He has carved out his role nicely on the new team, and it is his experience that has helped him along the way.

“Being a grad transfer with a lot of experience, you come in having the knowledge of experience. Coach gave us our roles and we go out there and play as hard as we can and play for each other.”

His leadership on the team is no surprise. Jefferson transferred to the team with his Bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership already in hand. The skills learned in the classroom are now on display on the court.

“Being able to talk to my teammates the way they are more familiar with and I can bond with them and gel with the team. It helps and gives me more experience.”

Bethune-Cookman kept it close, but the Blue Raiders pulled away in the second half winning the game 71-51.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders moved to 2-0 on the new season.
