MTSU Loses to Belmont, Elias King Stands Out Again

By MTN Sports Reporter: Ian Wolfe

MTSU Basketball lost to Belmont Saturday night in an overall close game but ending with the Bruins winning by 10, 76-65.

The game started close with MTSU and Belmont both knocking down shots with momentum swings for each team. Belmont kept more consistency throughout the game, nailing 53% of their shots by the end of the game.

MTSU Coach Nick McDevitt thought Belmont looked comfortable and didn’t think the Blue Raiders played with enough force on either side of the ball. “I thought they were able to have strong aggressive drives to the basket. I thought we finished drives sloppy and soft.” Coach Nick McDevitt said.

Elias King set a career-high in points this week with 22, being named Conference USA Player of the Week. King was a pre-season All-Conference USA selection. “He was shooting it into a big basket. Quickly. He has that ability.” Coach Nick McDevitt said on King. “He’s shown he can shoot it comfortably from deep.”

MTSU is 5-6 on the year with a trip to California coming up with a matchup against Saint Mary’s. The game will be at the University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, California. The game is at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
