After a 13-5 season, the MTSU men's tennis team closed the season early wondering what could have been.

The team pulled off impressive wins against Michigan State, Indiana, and Auburn. Their last match was a 4-1 loss at 24th-ranked Princeton, but the Blue Raiders finish the year in the top-40.

The team has three seniors, Tom Moonen, Max Rauch, and Daniel Stormon. It’s unclear if they are going to return next year after the NCAA granted spring athletes an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head coach Jimmy Borendame sees this as a good opportunity to do it all again.

“We’ve got a really strong team,” said Borendame. “We have some people we really want to come back.”

With scholarships still in place, he thinks that the team will have an even stronger chance to win the championship.

“The athletes we have are always active, I think they’re ready.”
