MTSU Shuts Out Bradley in Home Baseball Opener

By Austin Wray

The MTSU baseball team endured a one-hour snow delay to beat Bradley in the Blue Raiders' home opener on Thursday.

The teams started slow, with only one baserunner in the first three innings.

“I like to see us hitting a little bit more early in the game,” said MTSU head coach Jim Toman.

Freshman DJ Wright, a Murfreesboro native, put the Blue Raiders on the board with his first home run in the 4th inning.

“It felt different, I didn’t think it went out but it just carried and then felt unreal,” said Wright.

MTSU junior pitcher Zach Keenan kept the Braves hitless through six innings. The Blue Raiders scored four more runs in the 7th inning.

Adam Link took over for Keenan in the 7th inning. Bradley's Keaton Rice broke up the no-hitter in the 9th inning with a double off of Link.

MTSU hosts Evansville on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
