Dustin Hughes, a 38 year old man, has been charged with resisting arrest and setting fire to personal property.
On Monday, April 13… Hughes set a car on fire at a home where he used to live and had a standoff with police before he was taken into custody. Fire Marshal Carl Peas and Life Safety Officer Shan Womack decided that the fire was started on purpose causing around $10,000 worth of damage.
The next day, around midnight, police were called to the 900 block of Hillcrest Dr. on suspicious activity from a person. Hughes was carrying a knife and ignored the police’s orders for him to drop it. Officers restrained Hughes and he was taken to a hospital to get checked out. Hughes was later transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he is held in jail with a $6,000 bond.
