Overton senior Derek Murphy scored 28 points with 12 rebounds as the Bobcats cruise to a 62-49 win over Hillwood on Tuesday night.
“We did a really great job pushing the tempo and attacking the basket," said Overton head coach John Hopson. "We always want to be in attack mode, and so I think for the most part we attacked the basket well.”
Although Murphy lit up the boxscore, Hopson praised the senior's defense efforts.
“He’s a really efficient scorer," said Hopson. "He finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds which is impressive, but him setting the tone defensively is what I’m extremely proud of.”
Other leading scorers for Overton include Damon McBride with nine points, E.J. Ford with eight points, and Chris Price with eight points.
The Bobcats final regular season game is Friday night at Hillwood. That game starts at 7:30 p.m.
