Early Saturday morning , off duty Centerville Assistant Police chief Timothy Buchanan and Kemmy Clark were struck by a vehicle traveling west bound on I- 40 near the 120 mile marker.
Officials say 34 year old Corey Mason , the driver of a 2009 Nissan Altima struck the bridge wall and veered across the median striking Buchanan and passenger traveling eastbound in a Ford F-150.
Mason died on the scene and Buchanan was rushed to the hospital where he later died . The passenger Kemmy Clark sustained injuries , but is expected to recover . Buchanan was 51 years old
