The faculty members, teachers and leaders at Rockvale Elementary chose one book to have the entire school read.
They decided on the book “The World of Humphry” about a hamster named Humphry.
A large mascot like character dressed as a hamster visits classrooms during reading time to encourage the fun.
Vice Principal Harris of Rockvale Elementary said the purpose of having the entire school read one book is to encourage reading conversation along with increased vocabulary and language.
She expresses the joyful way with which the students have responded to the project, and how students encourage each other to further reading.
“It’s so nice to have students talk about reading and they are enjoying it”, Harris said on the project.
