Earlier this week, a distracted driver crashed into a Mount Juliet police car while they were investigating another car crash.
Four officers were investigating a three car DUI crash on I-40. They had the driver suspected of impairment detained inside a patrol car.
The driver hit the police SUV with the suspected impaired driver inside, causing it to nearly strike the officers and another patrol car. Police determined the cause of the accident to be the driver didn't see the parked squad car.
The detained suspect is suffering from serious injuries from the accident while the other driver is fine and didn't require any medical attention. All of the officers left the scene without any injuries.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating this crash.
