Rick Insell notched his 333rd career win on Saturday with a 61-46 win over the North Texas Mean Green.
With the win, Insell passed former men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis to become the winningest coach in MTSU basketball history. Insell is in his 14th season and has a 333-115 record.
"This program is bigger than one person, bigger than one player, bigger than one coach,” Insell said. "I'm very happy to have 333 wins, but I'll tell you right now I'm happier for our young ladies who have won championships here, left here with rings on and left here with diplomas.”
A’Queen Hayes scored a game high 22 points, while grabbing nine rebounds.
Anna Jones chipped in for 10 points and three steals.
Alex Johnson added 19 points, including scoring 10 stright points in the fourth to give the Lady Raiders a comfortable lead.
MT went on to win 61-46 over the Mean Green. The Lady Raiders improve their record to 16-5 overall and 7-1 in C-USA play.
"We said we were going to win the conference, then Rice beat us," Insell said. "Now you're one down, and we have a choice, we can either gut it up and climb back up or just quit. We aren't quitting. Lady Raiders don't quit."
