The Rutherford County Board of Education passed multiple items including one that will make it possible for the Rutherford County District Attorney to prosecute students that are involved in mass threats.
Aa a resolution to the problem, students could receive jail time or confiscation of driver’s license.
Rutherford County has seen many threats of violence recently, being one of the many school
districts across middle Tennessee to receive threats. Oakland High School has had
almost 20 threats in two weeks with one student being stabbed.
The school lost instruction time due to the threats and district leaders believe a “better deterrent” is needed.
