Wednesday, September 11th, is the 23rd anniversary of the largest terrorist attack in the

United States.

Around Rutherford County, there were multiple ceremonies held in remembrance of the

lives lost. At Middle Tennessee State University, the ceremony started at 7:30 A.M. and

was hosted by the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Militar Family Center. Featuring multiple guest speakers, the event aimed to honor the nearly 3,000 victims

that died in the attacks.

At 9:00 A.M. the Rutherford County Sherriff’s Office hosted a ceremony. The Keynote

Speaker, Retired Air Force Col. Thomas Hickerson, led the event. The ceremony was

devoted to the first responders that worked throughout the attack and its aftermath.

Both remembrance ceremonies focused on the command to ‘never forget’.
