Smyrna Man Killed In Fatal Crash On South Lowry Street


On Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. Smyrna police department responded to an accident at the intersection of South Lowry and Sam Griffin.


They found Smyrna resident Karl J. Burdette, 48, had been struck by a minivan. 


Burdette, who was on a motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services.


Preliminary investigation shows that minivan driver Willa D. Palmer, 70, struck Burdette when making a left turn onto Sam Griffin as Burdette was travelling north on South Lowry. 

Accident investigators are continuing to investigate this accident.  Results will be presented to the Rutherford County District Attorney at a later date, says a news release.
