SMYRNA, TN- The town of Smyrna announced the 2019 Lifetime Service award to Rusty Boguskie and the 2019 Young Leader Award to Breanna Evans.

Recipients of the Lifetime Service award are Smyrna citizens who have distinguished themselves by years of unselfish and dedicated volunteer service to the Smyrna community.

The Young Leader Award is given to someone under the age of 21 who has a passion for voluntarism, has completed a community service project and is dependable.

Rusty Boguskie has spent the last two decades devoting his time to the North Rutherford Soccer League and is seen as a fixture at the Rotary Soccer Park.

Boguskie has served in numerous volunteer roles for the program, including coach, referee, board member, field coordinator and field director.

“Rusty is a committed volunteer for the North Rutherford Soccer League and the Smyrna Parks and Recreations Department,” said Mike Moss, Smyrna Parks and Recreations Director. “He embodies the spirit of voluntarism and serves our community incredibly well.”

Breanna Evans is a Smyrna High School senior and is involved in several organizations at school and in the Smyrna community.

Evans lead a school campaign to raise $65,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the name of the school’s late drama teacher.

“Breanna is an exemplary young woman,” said Sherri Southerland, principle of Smyrna High. “She is one of the most dependable students I have witnessed in my 20 years of education. She will be remarkable when she enters college and will do great things.”
