High School football is in full swing in the state of Tennessee and we’ve already seen

plenty of movement throughout the rankings of the top teams. There were several high-profile

matchups throughout the different classes, especially in Class 1A and Class 3A. While it was only

week 3, these matchups were a great indicator for how the rest of the season could play out.

Here’s a quick rundown of the best team performances and what the featured teams have left

in front of them.

*All rankings are courtesy of The AP Polls*

Class 1A: Moore County

- Perhaps the most notable breakout team throughout the state, the Moore County

Raiders have jumped out to a 3-0 start. They currently sit at #6 in the 1A polls after starting out NR. They are a team to watch after their big win over previously #2

ranked Cornersville, who dropped to #8 with the loss.

Class 3A: Alcoa

- After receiving 10/10 first-place votes, the Alcoa Tornadoes maintained their #1

ranking in Class 3A. They did so in convincing fashion with a 38-0 win over Scott High

School. Through three games this season, Alcoa has outscored their opponents by a

combined 128-7.

Class 4A: Tullahoma

- After a convincing 42-7 win at Marshall County, the Tullahoma Wildcats jumped up

to #3 in the Class 4A rankings. They moved up three spots past the Tigers as Marshall

County fell from #3 to #7 with the loss.

Class 6A: Oakland

The most competition lies within the state’s highest classification, Class 6A. #1

Oakland maintained their undefeated season with a 36-7 win over Siegel. They

received 7 out of the possible 10 first-place votes, with the other 3 going to #2

ranked Maryville.
