Winter Weather Warnings

Kristi Jones, MTN Reporter

February 10th, 2021

As the weather has begun to dip below freezing, the Tennessee Government and Tennessee Highway Patrol have sent out what everyone should have in their car in case of an emergency.

The THP stated that everyone needs to have the following items in their car: blankets, water, windshield scraper, flashlight with fresh batteries, jumper cables and a first aid kit. They also recommend having at least half a tank of gas and properly inflated tires at the beginning of a trip.

The Tennessee Department of Health has also added to how everyone can stay safe in the winter months.

“We all need to be ready for winter driving conditions and the possibility of getting stuck or even stranded on the road by being prepared before a storm hits,” said TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner.

For information about road conditions in real-time, please see www.tn.gov/tdot/tdotsmartway and in case of an emergency on the road, call *THP (847).
