'Hell & Gone' Podcast Star Cathrine Townsend Speaks At MTSU

Ever wonder what life is like as a private investigator? Come to Tucker Theater on Sept. 11th at 6:00 p.m. to listen to Cathrine Townsend speak on her Podcast “Hell and Back.”


Catherine Townsend loves the True-Crime genre so much that she became a private investigator, gaining 6,000 hours to become one in 2010. Townsend then launched her famous Podcast “Hell and Back” in 2017.


Criminal Justice Professor Elizabeths Q. Wright organized the event with Cathrine during the Distinguished Lecture Series hosted at MTSU. Wright was “taken by her podcast” With the host of the podcast.


This Podcast talks about actual events of people caught in murder investigations and includes guests such as Private investigators or former Police Officers. She’s also been on “Red Collar,” a podcast about killers living in plain sight.


Catherine Townsend started as a staff writer for New York Magazine and then went to London to write for The Independent’s “Sleeping Around” Column. She went on to write two Bestselling Books, “Sleeping Around” and “Breaking The Rules”. Both contain her not-so-private sexual adventures. She’ll release her third Novel, “How to Survive a Murder Investigation.” In 2024.


She’s also been featured in magazines like Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and The Huffington Post. She’s also appeared on the hit show “Dateline” on NBC.
